Night 0 to Day 1 tutorial

Use the last calm night to store clean water, move every food item into the pantry, and lock the apartment before Daniel knocks.

Around 19:15 the apartment is still an ordinary evening. The television is on. Checking it starts the downtown alert. The news names the area outside Bellwether Heights. That place name also appears in the Radex tutorial, so I treat it as confirmed.

Around 19:24 a phone alert says to stay indoors and lock doors and windows. Around 19:30 the television shows signal lost. Other runs may hit those beats at different minutes. I would not set a real clock by them.

Water: take the blue cleaning bucket from under the kitchen sink, put it in the bathtub, turn the tap on, turn it off when the bucket is full, and carry it to the metal rack in the living room. One run's display read Stored clean water: 8 L. That is one apartment's total, not a rule for every bucket.

Food: open the fridge, the cupboards, and any shopping bags, and carry each item to the pantry. Counts in footage include 0/19, 32/49, 34/49, and 38/49. Tinned fish added 2 portions in one run, and fridge leftovers added 2. I am not publishing a single pantry size.

Door: F locks and unlocks, R looks through the peephole, T sets or removes the chain. With the chain on, the door only opens a crack. Pick a bed, sofa, or mattress as the place you will sleep.

Daniel knocks on Night 0. Check the peephole, then let him in if it is him. He says to keep the noise down so they stay put. What happens to him later is not the same in every run. The NPC page keeps that branch separate.

Day 1, about 08:55, the objective is to plan today's rations. The in-game guide has a Rations page that estimates how many days of food and water you have. Drinking is hold F. One recorded sip was 0.5 L.

The five bars are Health, Hunger, Thirst, Fatigue, and Stamina. Fatigue shows a tired marker as it climbs. There is no noise bar. Noise is what running, dropping items, fighting, and a loud radio do to the hallway.

Questions

What should I do first in 30 Floors Up?

Store water in the bathtub bucket, move food into the pantry, then lock and chain the door before you sleep.

Should I let Daniel in?

On Night 0 he knocks as a neighbor. Footage shows players checking the peephole and opening the door. Later outcomes differ by run.
