Storing and treating water

Night 0 is the only easy water. Fill containers before the broadcast cuts the service, and boil anything that was not already clean.

The blue cleaning bucket sits in the cabinet under the kitchen sink. Put it in the bathtub, open the tap, shut the tap when it is full, and carry it to the metal rack in the living room. One HUD line read Stored clean water: 8 L. I read that as the stock in that run, not the size of the bucket.

Other containers show up: a sealed 2 L bottle in a written guide, plus pots and loose bottles in the longer videos. Players are still hunting containers days later. There is no table of every volume, so I am not inventing one.

Drinking is hold F. A recorded sip was 0.5 L. Thirst is its own bar, separate from hunger.

Untreated water is not for drinking as-is. In the STVELAW run someone says the water is untreated, turns a knob, and starts boiling it. How many seconds that takes, and whether you need fuel, is not in the clip I could use. The step is: do not drink it until it has been boiled.

A broadcast on the night of Day 2 says water and power service will be interrupted. Two videos show the taps and lights failing after that. Rain and a roof tank are not in those sources. After the cut, the rack and whatever you bottled are the supply.

The rations screen estimates days of water the same way it estimates food. Pair this page with the food guide when you plan a morning, and with the 100-day page when you want the longer horizon.

Questions

Where is the cleaning bucket?

Under the kitchen sink, in the cabinet. The official thumbnail shows the blue buckets in the bathroom.

Can I drink bath water straight away?

Clean stored water is what the HUD labels. A separate clip says untreated water has to be boiled first.
